MACC THEATER SUMMER CAMP

“PERFORMANCE CAMP”

 

This two-week theater course will instruct students on the fundamentals of performance. During Week 1, students will study movement and voice technique, play analysis, and acting. They will gain on-stage experience with monologue and scene work. During Week 2, they will collaborate and form group scenes that will be performed at a final showcase on Friday afternoon.

 

Dates: July 8th- July 19th (Monday-Friday)

 

Time: 9 am-12 pm

 

Showcase: Friday, July 19th, 2:00 pm

The showcase will be an opportunity for students to show the new skills they have learned in an exciting onstage experience. Students will spend week two working together to create a collaborative original scene for the showcase. Students will also be given the option to perform a 1-minute monologue.

 

Capacity: 15 Students

 

Ages: Rising 6th Grade-Rising 12th Grade

 

Class Cost: $500 per student

Sarah Elisabeth Mixon is a performer, director, playwright, and musician. Sarah obtained her B.A. in Theatre with a Curricular certificate in Playwriting from Sewanee: The University of the South in 2021. Sarah has written four original staged works including Night and Day and The Downfall of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl. Sarah has worked as a professional actor in Chattanooga for the past four years working with Back Alley Productions and Ensemble Theatre Chattanooga. Sarah is also a puppeteer with Playful Evolving Monsters. Sarah is currently directing The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition at Normal Park Upperschool.
