Nora Benian

Adult Yoga Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am - 10:30am


Nora Benian, E-RYT500, Yoga Therapist, Wellness Coach, is a seasoned yoga instructor and teaches all levels including specific Yoga teacher trainings. Her classes accommodate students with a wide range of challenges whether physical, emotional, psychological or spiritual. Nora guides students safely and knowledgeably through yogic postures and practices helping students to release stress and tension, strengthen the body and mind, and learn to relax deeply.


Through Yoga Therapy, Nora suggests specific Yogic practices along with counselling to help bring clients back into alignment, build strength, and clear energy channels to increase the life force. Nora inspires students with her wisdom and motivates them through self-development with ease.


She is a seasoned educator and speaker offering workshops, seminars to a wide range of audiences with a focus on physical, emotional, and psychological wellness. She also gives lectures on ‘Mindfulness and Happiness’ and ‘Health is Wealth’ and also in 'Stress Reduction' in many venues as well as offers workshops in Corporate offices for employee wellness.


I am teaching  a combination of Therapeutic Yoga and Yin Yang Yoga.


Therapeutic yoga focuses on small repetitive movements that develop mobility in the joints by release tension in their connections. It also develops strength in the small muscles which support the joints. Ultimately this therapeutic yoga is aimed at keeping the joints lubricated, mobile, strong and healthy.


Yin Yang or (Hatha) is a style of yoga that combines strengthening movements and long held stretches. Yang get the muscles activated, the blood flowing and develops strength by moving through a sequence of weight-bearing poses. Yin is about stretching and lengthening the connective tissues that wrap the whole body. Yin releases tension, strengthens the fascia where attached to joints and calms the mind. The balance of the two make this class makes you feel like you have had a complete practice.

Yin Yoga

Tuesdays 6:30-7:30  (Starts January 25th)

Fee: $10 per session


Yin yoga is a quiet, meditative practice with long, deep holding of passive poses. Using conscious muscle relaxation, yin postures release tension in the connective tissue nourishing joints, ligaments, and fascia promoting the healthy flow of chi (energy). The Yin practice is a excellent compliment to more vigorous yoga practices or activities such as running, cycling, and hiking. The practice is suitable and encouraged for all levels.

Meditation

Tuesdays 7:45-8:30  (Starts January 25th)

Fee: $8 per session


In this class we will explore various breathing techniques, which balance, clear and calm your nervous system, preparing the body and mind for meditation. Once the mind settles, we will practice meditation techniques such as, observation of thoughts, single point focus meditation and Emptiness meditation to provide a variety of entry points to the bliss found in the silence within. Leave this class feeling centered, restored and less reactive.

This class is open to everyone. No experience is required.

Ball Therapy and Yin Yoga Workshops

Thursday January 27th - 7:00-8:30

Fee: $25


This workshop fuses a spectrum of acupressure work, energy line massage and Yin yoga.


Learn how to find and stimulate acupressure points along the meridians and how to release the blockages in your energy flow. Develop your ability to channel the life force (Prana) through congested areas of the body and relax deeper than ever before. Discover ways to release stagnant energy, pain and tension and increase overall flexibility bringing your yoga practice to a whole new level. You will learn how to soothe tired feet, ease a headache, release tension from the face, chest, abdomen, hips, shoulders, back, neck, arms and hands.
These workshops will help you feel brand new and help you to move beyond your previous limitations in your yoga practice and in your overall well-being.


Part 1
We will focus on lower body including the feet, achillies tendons, calves, IT band, buttocks and hips.


Part 2
We will focus on the upper body including the low, mid and upper back, shoulders and neck.


Part 3
We will focus on the chest, pects, front of shoulders, abdomen, jaw and neck.


During these 90 min workshops we will focus on releasing tension and manipulating the energy lines with our hands and specific tools clearing the flow of energy through many significant parts of the body. We will open the hips, work out knots in the buttocks, legs, and feet re-energizing and reviving that which caries us through the world. We will increase energy flow along the spine, back, shoulder blades, chest, abdomen, side body bringing fresh life into the organs and increasing the breath capacity. We will also develop the ability to release stagnant energy and tension in the head, face, neck, shoulders, arms and hands so that you can communicate more freely and hold those you love closer, including yourself.


This workshop is facilitated by Nora Benian, E-RYT 500, Yoga Therapist and Thai Yoga Massage Practitioner.

Healing Soundbath Restorative Yoga Class

Thursday March 17th - 7:00-8:15 

Fee: $20


Soundbath Restorative Yoga is a very gentle yoga practice designed to calm the nervous system and create overall health in the body. It offers simple yet powerful postures that can be integrated into existing yoga classes, healing treatments, or used to teach restorative-specific classes. Restorative Yoga is a regenerative healing tool that reduces stress by supporting the body’s innate responses towards homeostasis and health.


Through the use of supported yoga postures, breathing, and meditative techniques, a profound sense of relaxation can infuse one’s entire being, leading to healing.


Bring two blankets, two pillows, your yoga mat and blocks if you have them.
