Introduction to Hand Building
Hannah is a recent graduate of Vanderbilt University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and Psychology. She is an interdisciplinary artist and a current MFA candidate at Maryland Institute College of Art. Hannah loves working in a multitude of mediums, but some of her favorites are ceramic, sculpture, installation, video, photography, mixed media, and found objects. She believes that art is for everyone and is committed to sharing her love for artmaking with others, no matter what their prior experience may be.

8 Week Intermediate Hand Building (Minimum age 14)
Mondays from 12:30pm-2:30pm.

Take your pottery skills to the next level with our intermediate hand-building pottery class, designed for those who have some foundational experience with clay and are ready to refine their techniques. In this class, you’ll build on basic skills and explore more advanced methods such as intricate sculpting, complex slab work, and incorporating texture and decoration into your pieces. By the end of the course, you’ll complete more sophisticated pottery projects that showcase your growing expertise and creativity.

This hands-on course is perfect for those new to the potter’s wheel, guiding you through the essential techniques of centering, pulling, and shaping clay to create beautiful, functional forms like bowls and cups. No prior experience is needed—just come ready to get a little messy and have a lot of fun. By the end of the class, you’ll have created your first wheel-thrown pieces, ready for firing and glazing.
8 Week Middle/High School Wheel Throwing

Open to all skill levels, this class invites middle and high school students to explore the art of wheel throwing in a supportive studio environment. Students will learn to center clay, shape forms like bowls and cups, and complete their work through trimming and glazing. Whether it’s your first time at the wheel or you’re building on past experience, this class offers plenty of room to grow, create, and have fun.
