Joseph Decosimo Trio: Fiery Gizzard Album Release Tour!

Joseph Decosimo got a banjo in 7th grade because he thought it’d be cool. Growing up near Chattanooga, TN he stumbled into a rich world of traditional community music, eventually finding his way to the doorsteps of some of the region’s great old fiddlers— folks like Charlie Acuff and Clyde Davenport who played music they’d learned from relatives born in the 1800s. Over the years, he’s cultivated the banjo, fiddle, and song traditions of his home region, sharing them at festivals, concerts, and workshops around the world through fresh and inviting interpretations. He’s a national Old-time banjo champion and has won fiddle contests all around the South. He’s also a PhD holding folklorist. While the world of Old-time music has long been his home, his playing can also be heard on recordings by Hiss Golden Messenger, Wye Oak, and Jake Xerxes Fussell, who compares Decosimo to “an astute jazz artist,…
