Hannah Myers - Sara Beth Zeiser - Elizabeth Gaffney

Hannah Myers has been a working artist at the MACC since 2021. In her work, she focuses on painting, screenprint, mixed media collage, and most recently, ceramics. She first studied ceramics during her undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee and has loved the medium ever since. Hannah earned a BA from the University of Tennessee and a MAT in Visual Arts Education from Western Carolina University. Hannah is excited to share her passion for ceramics and teaching with pottery classes at the MACC.

Sara Beth Zeiser grew up on Signal, took classes at the MACC growing up and even discovered ceramics for the first time here. She attended Baylor School where her interest in pottery continued to grow, leading her to pursue a BFA in Ceramics and Graphic Design from Union University. Sara currently works as a graphic designer at Southern Champion Tray by day, and looks forward to getting her hands in clay at the MACC in the evenings!

Elizabeth Gaffney is a local Signal Mountain potter and MACC member who is known in the local area, and the Chattanooga art market scene, for her whimsical and fun wheel thrown designs. Originally from Virginia Beach, VA, Elizabeth is a graduate of Virginia Tech University.

Note: When signing up for class choose the class you prefer that is listed with the teachers name. Then when asked to choose prefered teacher select "No Preferred Teacher".  This will sign you up for the teacher listed with the prefered class.


Introduction to Wheel Throwing - Age 18+


In this eight week course, participants will learn the basics of creating ceramic vessels using wheel throwing techniques. We will learn about clay preparation, centering, creation of a cylinder and bowl, finishing techniques, glazing and clay recycling. Whether you are brand new to ceramics, or have had past experience with clay and need a refresher, this course will be right for you! Course cost includes 25 pounds of clay and all required tools and equipment. Participants should be wear clothes that are okay to get dirty, closed toe shoes and an old towel from home.  $350 per participant.

Family Halloween Ghost Workshop with Elizabeth Gaffney

Sunday, September 17th, 1-3 pm


Get ready for spooky season and make your own pinch pot ceramic ghosts! A hands on experience for the whole family where to learn basic ceramic hand building techniques. Please wear clothes that you can get dirty, an apron if you like, and a towel. Each person will make 3 ghosts each, and they will be glazed white. Participants will be notified when their ghosts are ready, around 2-3 weeks after the event.


Sunday, September 17th, 1-3 pm

$35 for adult participant

$20 for child participant
