Hannah Myers

Hannah Myers has been a working artist at the MACC since 2021. In her work, she focuses on painting, screenprint, mixed media collage, and most recently, ceramics. She first studied ceramics during her undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee and has loved the medium ever since. Hannah earned a BA from the University of Tennessee and a MAT in Visual Arts Education from Western Carolina University. Hannah is excited to share her passion for ceramics and teaching with introductory pottery classes at the MACC this spring.

Winter/Spring 2023 Pottery Classes


Introduction to Wheel Throwing - age 16+

In this eight week course, participants will learn the basics of creating ceramic vessels using wheel throwing techniques. We will learn about clay preparation, centering, creation of a cylinder and bowl, finishing techniques, glazing and clay recycling. Whether you are brand new to ceramics, or have had past experience with clay and need a refresher, this course will be right for you! Course cost includes 25 pounds of clay and all required tools and equipment. It is recommended for participants to wear clothes that are okay to get dirty and to bring an old towel from home. $350.

Intermediate Wheel Throwing -  for previous MACC pottery students and those with proficient beginner skills.

This course will focus on trimming, creating attachments for vessels, proper construction for combined wheel thrown pieces, lidded vessels, decorative feet rings and surface design. Students in this class must have mastery with basic centering, cylinder and bowl construction techniques. $350.

March 20 - May 15, 6-8 pm

Muddy Meet-Ups

This is a one-time, three hour workshop aimed at introducing the curious artist to pottery! Students in the hand building class will learn about the basics of slab, coil and pinch construction for vessels. Students in the wheel throwing course will learn about basic centering and pulling techniques. Pieces will be fired and glazed for pick up at a later date. $70.

Ages 10+ (Students between the ages of 10-16 must be accompanied by an adult participant.)
