Gordon majored in music performance at Middle Tennessee State University where he performed with Roy Wooten and the Flecktones, Johann de Meij, Nigel Clarke, and Peter Shepard Skaervd. He also played in a masterclass with internationally renowned technique master, Robert Spring. He was a member of the MTSU Clarinet Quartet, the only American ensemble invited to perform in the European Clarinet Festival in Gen, Belgium. A native of Chattanooga, he has been featured soloist with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, Chattanooga Clarinet Choir, Uptown Big Band, Southern Adventist University Orchestra, and the Chattanooga Youth Symphony.
